THE DEBT CEILING

POLITICS & THE AMERICAN PEOPLE
I felt so compelled to write an article on this the so called, "debt ceiling." I was totally disgusted with the government in reference to this debt ceiling. Why you might ask did this affect me and so many other american people in this manner. I'll tell you why, for one i saw my mom who is in her seventies stress enormously over the fact that there was a great possibility that her social security check just might not be deposited in her account. My mom like many americans out there her social security check is what she lives on, there is no other income. The next reason i may have been just a bit upset with all the politics involved in the debt ceiling debate was because my brother who is disabled and also receives a check each month was needless to say threatened with the great possibility of his check not being deposited as well. I hope everyone out there reading this article felt some type of relieve when at the very last hour the debt ceiling was lifted and the checks would go out.
SOCIAL SECURITY CHECKS GO OUT
POLITICAL WARFARE
I can't help but wonder was the Congress affected by this debt ceiling as well, would their checks be held until the politics was resolved, would President Obama have to wonder how his family would make ends meet if the so called government checks didn't go through to direct deposit? Isn't it such an incredible injustice in our political system called the government to make these people, our seniors stress while Washington plays some type of political warfare? I hate to remind you this our government, but if your in debt, or should i say if you've put this great nation in a major economic crisis it's on you. We the people didn't make the decision to take all of the loans from other countries and run up an enormous loan that now you choose to hold us the taxpayers responsible for your decisions on capital hill. What is this bizarre politics within our government. Why on earth wait until the last hour to resolve the issue of the debt ceiling? There needs to be a change in our government where the people in Washington who are working for us, and for the best interest of the United States get together on one page and stop the politics that is ripping our nation apart. When the people of this great country work all their life to pay in social security, why on earth do we have these people in Washington threatening their mere survival. I'm sorry but this makes me upset to think that i'm paying in social security and should i need it when i become of age it just may not be available.
A NATION IN DEBT
It's no great secret that this is a nation in debt, I must ask you our political decision makers, is there no way to run a country on a budget? It's called planning ahead, not dishing out what you do not have and never ever borrow what you can't pay back. It seems to me that those in Washington make these decisions to live outside the budget and then expect us the taxpayers to pay up for their mismanagement of the funds they've been allowed to administer. This my friend is no way to run things in the government. I ask you congress, "what on earth took you so long with the debt ceiling debate?" Would you have actually stopped our seniors and others who receive government funds from receiving the income that support their way of life better known as, "their money called social security." The debt ceiling debate is really quite silly when it comes down to it, you take from our seniors who have worked all of their life for perhaps still what little they may have rather than those fancy politicians in Washington who have an already extravagant way of life. I'm sorry but i really don't see too much logic in that political decision that you were contemplating for our nation.
RAISE THE DEBT CEILING
WE THE PEOPLE...
BUDGETING YOUR WAY TO FINANCIAL SECURITY
I think the leaders of this great nation need to get together and stop the childish political games and decide to run things on a budget thus leading us the United States Of America to financial security. I do believe it's time to forget about political views and debates and get right down to business to fix the misfortune that has played out in the debt ceiling debate. This should be one of the most financially secure nations there is, but rather we find ourselves in a major economic crisis fighting political sides to do with the debt ceiling. I find it hard to understand how this has just recently played itself out in Washington, it seems like to me if our nation was having financial struggles something should have been done about it before it had built up to the extent that it has. It's often been said that a woman could run a household on a dime, well perhaps Washington should take this into play and somewhat use it as a competition to run this nation on less.

What to cut? Raise taxes? The politicos are ultimately concerned with getting reelected and to solve the deficit problem will require measures which will assuredly not get them reelected. Good luck.
